Ok I guess something twextwaordinary twappened twis week with twitter having 10 twillion tweets in the tweet o sphere. Well like they said in Gone Twith the Twind, "Frankly ho twitch, Hommie don't give a twat's ass." Yes, I saw the tweet ghetto version.

Do I tweet, Twell yea I do. But I twelly don't care about how twany tweets have been tweeted. It's kinda twike pissing off twe back porch. TwIt's fun, everyone does it as twuch as possible, but there's usually no one on the receiving end.

So I did some digging around and twound real tweet stats.

US Government to develop CRAPNet

In an undercover investigation The Jager Gazette has uncovered documents that the government will begin to develop the Collection Repository And Pee Network (CRAPNet), once new healthcare legislation is passed. This network will connect every toilet in the United States to CRAPNet and send the data directly to Washington for processing.

Dell and other technology manufacturers have already struck closed door deals to begin producing Smart Toilets and Urinals. Toilets will have fingerprint recognition on the handle and in public areas "users" will swipe their CRAPNet cards before doing their business. But smart flushers are only the beginning. Once you press that little lever, that's when the magic begins.

A CPU begins analyzing all wastes. Everything from your temperature to what you ate yesterday can be gathered and sent to the boys in DC. What will they do with all this new information?

Proponents claim they will be able to reduce obesity, prevent disease, and even keep tabs on criminals. Toilet paper manufacturers have been up in arms because the government now has a way to regulate TP usage.

Reid tells an executive from Charmin to back down

Nancy Pelosi was heard saying, "I don't think people would mind the government checking out their shit every now and then. We have a right to know"

Harry Reid comments, "As far as a person's privacy, once it leaves their body, it's in the public domain."

Even President Obama says, "CRAPNet will drive the United States into the 21st century. No other nation on the planet will have such a robust and feature rich network to collect human waste. Let me make myself clear though. This should, and must be, a bi-partisan goal of every elected official. Republican's TT is just as yellow as a Democrats."

Private Sector

Don't think the private sector is going to be left out. CRAPNet will be a private network just for those DC guys, but manufacturers also plan to include Internet connectivity to these new devices. No they will not be able to connect to the government "black boxes" locked in the toilets but they will open the door for many new gadgets.

Twitter and facebook are already creating small apps that will sense flushing and location. Be careful though. Don't let that tweet, "Looks like @John has diarrhea at La Rancho" or "@David clogged the toilet again" go out to everyone. Logitech is even getting in on the action. The government has already struck a deal to have webcams installed in strategic locations, but will allow 'limited' access to "bowl only" cameras.

A spokesman for Intel said, "Ten years ago something like this just wouldn't have been feasible. We just didn't have the processing power. Now we can process thousands of time more shit...literally!"

Laahueser of the Week - John Kelso

Congratulations to John Kelso for winning the "Laahueser of the Week" Award. John wrote an great article titled "As far as rednecks go, Alabama may have UT beat."

John, obviously a Texas Longhorn fan, compared Alabama fans to The Beverly Hillbillies. He states:

"The only thing Alabama and Southern California have in common is that the Beverly Hillbillies ended up in Southern California"

John also makes reference to Alabama's "Crimson Tide". He mistakenly thinks this refers to the "red tide" which he believes is fish kill. It's actually a form of microscopic algae that is commonly found in the Gulf of Mexico. Again John states:

"In other words, the University of Alabama has a mascot named after a fish kill. So what do these Alabama folks bring to the games for a mascot? A bucket of dead carp?"

I'm no expert, but I'm not real sure carp live in the ocean. He also feels that we have an elephant for a mascot because "dead fish don't look good on a hat". Actually dead fish look great on a hat, I have two or three I wear all the time.

John's little rant goes on and on ending with a reference to the South's strong religious beliefs. He comments on the removal of "The Ten Commandments" from the Alabama Supreme Court as something from the "Bubba department". This inspired him to write his own Ten Commandments one being;

"Thy shalt honor thy daddy and thy mama, as soon as you can figure out who they are."

NOTE: The following can only be read with a Southern accent.

Well John I'm not sure how much you know about Alabama or Alabama football but you certainly have an open invitation to visit our state. Hell, someone might even cook you up some hog jowls and chitlins and invite you into their double-wide.

You see, daddy and mama taught us to grow up by the "Good Book", that's the Bible to you, and we should respect one another. We may not had fancy cars or tall buildings like you city folk, but we can catch a crawdad in a crik, run a trot line, and yes we even knew a carp was a fresh water fish.

Aw I know you city kind like the hustle and bustle and all them lights, but, life here in Alabama is...well it's simple. We know our neighbor, not because they live 10 feet above us, but because we meet in the morning at the store for a cup of coffee. Usually the talk is about local news, a bit of politics, heisman trophy winners, national championships, you know the usual stuff.

We say things like "ya'll","fixin","God Bless You","Thank You", and "Amen". Our children say "yes sir","no sir", "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am". You learn that by gettin popped once or twice, yes once again by daddy or mama. We eat Bar'b'Que and drink sweet tea. Lot's of us even ride around with a "3" sticker on the back windshield.

As far as rednecks, we don't mind you callin us redneck. There's some comedian out there, Jeff Foxworthy, that even makes a living telling redneck jokes. If you can make a buck trying to be funny go ahead. You may want to do a little more research on what a redneck is because your jokes just aren't as funny as that Foxworthy guy. He's pretty funny. Keep working at it though.

Oh yeah, there's one other thing about life here in Alabama you need to understand. We know how to play football. Kids don't grow up picking a favorite team, they are born either Alabama fan or Auburn fan and as an Alabama fan I can certainly remember many times my "mama" took me to a game in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa. Also, football is a team sport here in Alabama. Yes I know Ingram won the Heisman and McClain won the Butkus award but both would be the first to tell you there are 11 men on the field. Some teams do feel that one player makes the difference in winning and losing and maybe that's the case. But damn son, we play in the S...E...C, and they hit juuusst a little harder than them other conferences. Most been puttin licks on one another since they could walk. So Alabama doesn't, ummm, how do I say it, "put all our eggs in one basket."

John, the last line of your article reads, "Roll Tide. Roll over and play dead." That's not really how it goes and if you knew anything about football in Alabama, you would never say Roll Tide unless you were a Alabama fan. While we are on the subject though another Alabama saying is, "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer give em hell Alabama". We also add, "We - just - beat - the - hell out of you!" which you may have heard at the end of the National Championship game.

So John, take a few lessons in "class" from a very "classy" guy and great football player, Colt McCoy. He gets it. He's great at what he does and doesn't have to put down fellow players just to make himself look better.

Many people think that on December 21, 2012 the world will fall into utter chaos or maybe time will cease to exist. A couple of things to consider;

1. The world is already in utter chaos.
2. The people who predicting the world to end are no longer with us. Unfortunately the Mayans were wiped out long ago. What good does it do to predict the end of time if you aren't going to be around to see it?

Liberal Sports - Who would win?

If liberals played sports, would there ever be any winners or losers? If you base your thought on everyone is equal, as in those who make X amount of dollars should be forced to give up for those who do not, then this should apply to everything...right?

So in football, if one team scores a touchdown the other team should have one too. Actually a more accurate model would be to give your points to the referees who would distribute them accordingly.

Take it a step further. If one kid makes all A's, they should give away their grades to those who made F's. I mean why should my kids have to study?
Everyone should be equal... right?

15 Yards plus a flag to the nuts

Well one Ole Miss Rebel got more than be bargained for on a pass interference penalty.

In the Ole Miss - LSU game, Rebel player Vaughn was covering pretty close on a pass. The LSU receiver missed the ball and Vaughn apparently thought he made a great play. The backfield referee decided it was pass interference on Vaughn and decided to add his own form of penalty.

Right after the play the referee "threw" his flag in the direction of the penalty. Vaughn was celebrating the play and caught the flag...uhhh...well let's just say there was another 'nut' on Vaughn's mind other than his coach(Houston Nutt).

I noticed Vaughn rolling around after the play but didn't catch what happened until they replayed the penalty in all it's glory in slow motion. And yes, those aren't just flags they are throwing. They have beanbags in the flag so they can chunk them twenty or so yards.

That's the first pass interference I've seen that was, "15 yards plus a shot to the nuts!".

As the saying goes, "Einhorn is Finkle, Finkle is Einhorn...OMG Tim Tebow is a Man!" Yes believe it or not he is actually human.

Before you Gator fans start "chomping" into me, hear me out.

Are you ever concerned that a sportscaster is just going to molest Tim Tebow? I mean these guys are in love with the man.

Don't get me wrong, Tebow is a great player but give us all a break. Sports announcers just can't seem to get enough of saying "Tebow". Yesterday the...ah-hem...kicker won the game for the Florida Gators and I still have no idea who this guys was. The sports announcer was like, "And here's blah blah on to kick,,,, AFTER Tim Tebow drives down the field!" The kicker wins the game and "The kick is Good! Tebow has done it."

At first I thought it was an infatuation with the Florida Gators. Considering it was a non-ESPN channel, who by the way are heads over heels over the #1 college team in the Universe - USC, I thought these guys may just be Gator Maters. But the more I listened I finally figured out, the Florida Gators DIDN'T EVEN PLAY!
It was just Tim Tebow.

And why shouldn't it be, as the whole family was there. I even noticed several family members wearing black and white uniforms running around on the field during the game.

Now, If you go back an analyze the game you'll see it was actually Tim Tebow who kicked the winning field goal! Not only that, Tim Tebow was also the holder. I guess he really is just a one man team.

I can see the headlines next year - "Tim Tebow Drafted to New York Jets, Rest of Team Let Go".

Tim, you're a great player but take my advice; "Never pick up the soap in the shower when a sportscaster is nearby."

Sportscasters, you guys need to control your hormones or I'm gonna have to put you on the Football Sex Offender list.

Where the Wild Things Are ...Not - Movie Review

Where the Wild Things Are...Well I can tell you where the I hell want to be - Where the Wild Things Are not. Talk about a crapper of a movie. I mean I felt like I just spent 2 hours with my psychologist.

I never read the book so maybe I'm missing something. But some kid (Max) who goes mental and sails off in a boat to some strange island with a bunch of guys dressed up like the chickens and goats is not my cup of tea.

The best thing that could have happened would the mom could have caught Max running away and beat the shit out of him with a belt and we could have all gone home.

Save your money and go beat the crap out of your stuffed animals.

Aliens over Moscow!

This just in... A giant UFO has been spotted over Moscow! Well my first thought was those crazy Russians have been sipping on the old vodka bottle a little too long. Then I saw the video.

The first thing you think of is Independence Day, Russian style. Hold on though... it's just the sun shining through the clouds. Those goofy Mosconians...is that a word? Anyway I have to admit it's a pretty cool cloud and probably some UFO kooks will swear up and down "It really was a UFO". Anyway just watch the video to see a really cool cloud.

For myself I'll just get back to reality and write about Ghosts running around on bridges in the middle of Alabama.

Going to see Worst Movie ever!

When do you get a chance to see the worst movie ever made? Well I'm headed to New Orleans this weekend to do just that. Yes I'm going to see Troll 2! Actually I'm going to see a documentary about the movie then watch the movie itself which has become a cult classic.

Is it the worst movie ever? Well I've seen some pretty bad ones so I'll let you know next week if I give it a big thumbs down!

Gloria's Bridge - Ghost encounter #1

The year was 1984. Reagan was battling the Cold War, David Lee Roth was still in Van Halen, and SirJager went to Gloria's bridge.

What is Gloria's bridge? If you've ever thought of what a haunted bridge might look like, Gloria's bridge was it.

So the story goes...

Legend has it many years ago there was a car wreck on an old bridge and a young girl named Gloria was killed. Some say her body was never found. The legend also goes that if you call her name from the bridge she will appear in front of you.

Now, when a kid turns 16 and gets his driver's license, there are a few things on the to-do list. Aside from the usual, a haunted bridge twenty minutes away, was on the Jager list.

The First Trip
The moon is out, but it's still a dark Autumn night in Alabama. Four kids pile into a Pontiac Sunbird and head for the town of Sylacauga. We were given directions but still not sure we would find the bridge. Our trip carries us through the quiet town center passing an occasional group of high school kids hanging out for the weekend. We make our way out of town and down small winding Alabama "back" roads.

Eventually the there are no houses and no lights and for a group of teenagers, it's pretty creepy.

The Sunbird tape player is blasting out Queen's Greatest Hits as the road becomes barley wide enough for two cars. The Fall moon flashes behind trees as their arms reach over the roadway. Suddenly the tape player stops and quickly comes back on again. It does this one or two more times. We dismiss the event as coincidence.

Seconds later we come to a curve in the road. If you're not paying attention you will go straight into the woods and into a small stream. We make the sharp left and our headlights uncover the bridge. We stop.

Bridge similar to Gloria's bridge

About fifteen feet in front of us is an old wooden bridge. A support truss runs along the top and wooden planks run horizontally to make up the one lane crossing. This was it, Gloria's bridge.

We approached slowly not sure if the bridge would hold the weight of the car and to make sure a car was not approaching the bridge. As we slowly crossed we could hear each board clap in a rhythmic pattern. We caught a quick glimpse of the moon from the break in the trees that hung over the stream.

After crossing we found a spot to turn around approached the bridge again. This time we parked dead center turned off the lights and engine. The only sound was the dull sound of water slowly flowing fifteen feet below. If there ever was a haunted bridge, "This was it", we thought.

Following legend protocol we cracked our windows and called, "Gloria, Gloria, Gloria" and immediately rolled them back up. The moon slowly made it's way through the trees. The hill behind us was well lit but the woods surrounding is were dark black.

After an uneventful hour we decided to call it a night. Somewhat disappointed we made our way home thinking, "so much for Gloria's bridge". When we got home, however, our thought's would change...

Georgia vs LSU - Bonehead play of the week?

Disclaimer: SirJager is a Crimson Tide fan so this is a completely unbiased opinion. Aren't they all!

Now for the bonehead play of the week!

Up until the last few minutes of the LSU-Georgia game a total of 13 points had been scored. 7-6 Georgia. The last 2 minutes of the game were what college football is all about except for the moronic referees.

First LSU scores a TD with about 2:53 left in the game to make the score 12-7 (2pt conversion failed). Georgia has 2:30 to go down the field to score and 'probably' win the game.

Guess what? In a classic final drive, Georgia scored a TD with 1 minute left. Joe Cox, Georgia's QB, threw a leap ball for A.J. Green who just out jumped the LSU defender for the touchdown. What happens next will go down in one of the all-time bonehead referee calls. Georgia gets a penalty for excessive celebration after the TD.

After 15 different angles none of the sports announcers could find the penalty. What the hell are the players suppose to do after scoring the so-called winning TD over the #4 team in the country after driving 800 yards down the field?

So Georgia gets nailed with a 15 yard penalty on the kickoff and all LSU needs is a field goal. The score is 13-12 Georgia. After the kickoff, 15 yards back and a decent return from LSU's, Trindon Holliday AND a 5 yard penalty for only having 3 men on one side of the kicker, (uh what's that?), LSU ends up with the ball on the Georgia 38 with over a minute left. Talk about stupid rules ruining the game...

Well it takes LSU about 3 plays for Charles Scott to scoot into the endzone for a LSU touchdown. Scott makes a motion to the crowd which gets him a 15 yard penalty. Time was pretty much against Georgia and that did them in, LSU winning 20-13.

Like I said earlier, I really don't care who won but I hate the fact the referees really screwed up a great college football finish. Hell, if I would have scored a TD I would have moonwalked, while spiking the ball and calling Jerry McGuire on my iPhone.

So this week's "bonehead play of the week" goes to the referees in the Georgia-LSU game.

Tebow Hurt - Urban dumbass?

Hey they always say "It's fun until somebody gets hurt".

Well Tim Tebow may have a reason to cry this year. In the third quarter of the Kentucky game Tim got his bell rung and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Florida was only leading 31-7, so they really needed another 40 points to put the game away. You have to hand it to Urban Meyer and staff on working to rack up the score.

If you're a Florida Gator fan, sorry, but before you start blasting me take it up with your coach. I certainly hope Tebow is ok, but jacking up the score on a team you don't need to, will only get you trouble. Playing football in the SEC is as much player survivability as anything and that's up to the coaches. I think you will agree...

E-Cigarettes - What the ...?.

The future of smoking is here! So they say.

Electronic cigarettes or E-cigarettes are the wave of the future. I mean just check out the picture. You just charge the little thing up and smoke away. The charge is just like a real pack too, it lasts for one day. Can you imagine the fights at the airport for a freakin plug to charge your "smoke". hmmm maybe a new business all in itself.

There are a few things though that would make e-Cigs even cooler.

Wireless Internet embedded - track your smoking on your laptop, even post WHEN and WHERE you are smoking to Twitter. That would be awesome!

Play a fight tune - download your favorite college fight songs

Darth Vader Sounds - When you inhale and exhale have some cool sounds like Darth Vader breathing

Cell Phone - use as bluetooth mic for your cell or just have cell phone right in cigarette.

Colored Smoke - some type of cool smoke with fragrance or better yet Glow in the Dark smoke.

Sound record and playback - record yourself talking and playback and your friends would be amazed you can talk with out moving lips or better yet record some Sinatra and you'll be the hit of the party. Should come with 10 pickup lines

Built in IPod - I would just assume this is already built in to a E-cig

Gun - you know like on Get Smart

Flashlight - So you can work under the sink and smoke at the same time

Waterproof - So you can smoke while diving.

OpenSource - This is only for you geeks. But you should be able to create plugins for the E-Cigarette. OK let me guess the first "plugin" - Pot simulator or maybe we just create the iPot.

The downside to the E-Cigarette is:

What will the birds eat? Don't they eat all those cigarette butts laying around?

What will ashtray cleaners do?

What will ashtray manufacturers do?

What will my kids make at camp?

Will Bic survive?

How will my kids light fireworks?

Who will start those little fires on the side of the road?

Will the art of thumping butts go away?

Tough guys can't put cigs out on their chest.

Airlines will have to redo safety videos and remove lavatory stickers

My wife can't tell me to go to store to buy cigs anymore

I don't have a reason to get out of house

Those Wacky Birthers!

Ohhh those wacky kooky birthers are getting their time in the limelight.

What is a birther? Well to hear the left and many in the media it's some "nut job" claiming Barack Obama is not a "natural born" citizen.

Why should anyone even question the fact? I mean his birth certificate was even posted on the Internet. Holy shit! It's on the Internet then it must be true. Even press secretary Robert Gibbs laughed and said what do you guys want it's on the Internet. Actually what's on the Internet is a Certificate of Live Birth from the state of Hawaii, not the actual birth certificate.

Well, now there is another birth certificate on the Internet and this one says Obama was born in Kenya. It must be a fake, it's on the Internet...ooops we can't say that.

Now I can't say what's real and what's not real. The whole issue could be resolved easily if Obama would release the original birth certificate, then the nutty birthers could go back to something important like say...finding bigfoot. Can you say transparency?

Non-birthers? Oh you're not getting off that easy! I bet at little league all-star games you're the ones screaming "HEY that kid can't be 12 years old! Where's his birth certificate?". Or maybe you were one of the one's who thought the Chinese "actually" cheated in the Olympics.

This did happen to me when I played little league. The team we played had some gargantuan kid pitching with more facial hair than one of those Geico caveman commericals. What did we hear?, "HEY that kid's too old to play little league!". The next day the team had to bring the kids original birth certificate to prove he was 12 years old. He was, and everyone shut up.

So who is the nutcase?

Cash for Clunkers? Why not Cash for Old People!

No offense if you consider yourself old but the "Cash for Clunkers" deal should be extended to "Cash for Old People".

Here's the theory...

The new health bill has some kinda crap in there about end of life, EOL, consultation once you reach a certain age. So there's no doubt the left considers us common folk to have a shelf life and eventually to become well a "clunker" just like a car that doesn't meet their standards.

So maybe they should make a program so "clunker people" can turn themselves in, in return for $4500. You can choose to give the money to your family or better yet take a hmmmm death cruise. Spend 7 luxurious days and nights on board the USS Morgue.

Hope I didn't offend any "clunkers" out there...

Here is the final SirJager College Football Standings.

Here's the real deal people. No one has paid me off so here's the true unbiased rankings for the year!

1. Utah

2. Florida

3. Texas

4. T - Oklahoma/Alabama

6. USC

Utah is undefeated. You really can't make an argument there unless you want a playoff system. Florida is #2 as they did lose to Ole Miss and the QB teared up during an interview. Oklahoma and Alabama tied at fourth. Again what can you say have a playoff system. Alabama only loss was to the #1 and #2 team and Oklahoma did hang with Florida.

The final game was not very impressive, at least through the first three quarters as I went to bed. I expected two power houses to come out and go all out for #1.

ESPN headlines had Florida as "Chompions". How long did it take to make that crap up? In the back of their minds they still want USC to be #1 but just couldn't muster up the kahunas to put them there this year.

Next year? Who knows. The only thing I can say is, I wish Boise State would get a new field. How annoying is that thing?

iPhone Camera Bag App

After playing with my iPhone for a month I would give the iPhone camera a 6 out of 10. It takes OK pictures but you have to tinker a bit to get something decent.

Now I'm not going to replace my DSLR with the iPhone camera but it does have it's place in my world of photography. Like I always say, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people", so the same goes for taking pictures. Think about it.

Anyway here's a little app that will spruce up your iPhone pics and it's cheap. I got it for 99 cents. It's called camera bag and duplicates certain "styles" of pictures. One is Ansel Adams and as you can imagine converts it to black and white. Another I like is called 1974 which looks like an old image from you guessed it, 1974.

You can see some examples on The Chronicles of Jager which is all done via my mobile phone which is an iPhone these days.

Low Carbon foods

Yes you read right - low carbon foods. Some of the chatter out there now is how our eating is effecting the environment.

Beef of chicken? Well beef is not very environmentally friendly. The cows live longer and produce more methane.

California and New York are going to put sticker on cars with a rating based on how much carbon they produce. If we do this for the cars shouldn't we do it for the cows too? Maybe people should just have to wear stickers based on their carbon production.

Is it possible these studies are showing up now just before Obama is set to take office?

The iPhone rocks but...

Well my "kids" got me an Apple iPhone for Christmas. Needless to say it's an awesome gift. The 3G has worked great most places and I've found a lot of nice apps for the phone.

My wife is happy because the best feature to her is someone actually answers the phone. But my other phone had issues so you can't really blame me. ;-)

Anyway here are just a few of the features I use daily; GMail, facebook, twitter, Weather App, Google Maps App, Camera Bag App. There are really too many to list. The one downside and I'm not sure why Apple has not fixed this, is there is no easy way to copy/paste.

The lack of copy/paste is a known sore spot amongst iPhone users so I assume Apple will address this soon. When posting to facebook, twitter, or Gmail it would be nice to have that feature.

Fix that Apple and you will make a lot of happy iPhone users lives complete!

Reliving the Flexy Racer

Ayers book Fugitive Days, not so hot on Amazon

Well it didn't take long after the election for old William Ayers to show up in the media. Good Morning America interviewed Ayers this morning and somewhat promoted his book "Fugitive Days: A Memoir".

The book was published in 2001 around September 11th and describes events in his life up through his days in the domestic terror group, the Weather Underground. I looked it up on Amazon and "looked inside". The first words in the book are "Memory is a MotherF****r". Nice Bill, that's another thing you and Obama have in common.

That is about as much I will read of his book. I did look at the reviews and they were all horrible. It's something like 15 (5) stars to 65 (1) star with very few in between. You gotta figure if you write a book, you will have 10-15 friends give you some good ratings on Amazon so that's probably how the book received 15 (5) star ratings. Other than that people pretty much blast his book. Not so good for such a distinguished writer huh?

Interesting Guest on LA Times tape?

The LA Times is holding the tape of Barack Obama at the 2003 Arab American Action Network and will not release it for some reason. Most think that it will show Barack in his true form and not very Presidential.

What is interesting who is on the guest list. We all know Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, and Rashid Knalidi were in attendance. There is also a group called the Sanabel AlQuds Dabka troupe or Sanabel Debka that was in attendance.

Sanabel Debka is a Muslim based dance group of kids from Milwaukee who perform a Middle Eastern step dance. What's interesting is what they incorporated into their act in 2004.

In a dance in 2004 they broke into a side performance where several kids were adorned with American, British and Israeli flags. Other performers pretended to shoot or behead the kids wearing the flags. Did they perform this at the 2003 dinner?

Obviously this is not a group any patriotic American or for that matter person with common sense would watch or support.

Hmmmm - Sure would like to see the tape. Your thoughts?

Newpapers that endorsed McCain kicked off Obama's plane

The N.Y. Post, Washington Times, and Dallas Morning News have all been kicked off of Obama's campaign plane to be replaced by "network bigwigs" and the two black magazines Essence and Jet. Imagine that.

All three papers have recently endorsed Senator John McCain, but the Obama campaign states that it just doesn't have enough seats available. Some of the people on the plane have been covering the 2008 election for a year now and get the boot in the final hours.

It shouldn't come as a surprise. The Obama campaign has repeatedly banned news outlets that asked tough questions and didn't bow down in his presence. And we all know what happens when a citizen questions the great one, just ask Joe the Plumber.

Funny though, the Obama campaign said, "oh there are some seats left on the Biden plane, you can ride with him". geee thanks what a consolation prize.

Free Speech people....enjoy it while you can because if Obama becomes king, uh I mean President the democrats have a plan to squash those who oppose. Google fairness doctrine.

Does Obama have a copy of Ayers Prairie Fire?

In 1974 the book Prairie Fire was published as the manifesto of the domestic terrorist organization The Weather Underground, headed by Bill Ayers.

Prairie Fire, which stands for The Politics of Revolutionary Anti-Imperialism, had four authors including Ayers. In the book he states;

"We need a revolutionary communist party in order to lead the struggle, give coherence and direction to the fight, seize power and build a new society"

Ok, so he's communist. Just a few years ago in a recent interview he still admits he's a Marxist and anarchist.

We all know Obama says, "he's just a guy down the street". We also know it goes much deeper than that of which I will not cover here.

One thing however Obama should have a problem with is one of the dedications in Ayers book. At the end of Prairie Fire there are numerous dedications to various radials but one in particular should catch Democrats eyes, Sirhan Sirhan.

Sirhan Sirhan is the convicted assassin of Senator Robert F. Kennedy on June 5, 1968. Democrats can overlook the Rev. Wright, Tony Rezco, and some of Ayers issues, but the fact one of their own was killed by someone who was hailed by Ayers should cross the line.

I assume Senator Barack Obama will have nothing to say and avoid the issue at all costs but I think deep down Democrats are wondering what they have got themselves in to.

Sen Joe Biden recently made a comment regarding abortion to The News Journal of Delaware, "I know that my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years."

Well Joe's church called him on it. His bishop wrote a letter to the editor stating that, "This is simply incorrect".

The bishop continues with, "The teaching of the Church is clear and not open to debate. Abortion is a grave sin because it is the wrongful taking of an innocent human life". Ouch, sorry Joe.

This is a great example of the rhetoric the Obama campaign is throwing out to people and when they are called on it, like Joe the Plumber and the Florida news anchor, they want to silence them.

What will the Obama campaign do now? Ban the church?

Credit Card Fraud - Update

This is an update to an earlier post about how easy it is to make fraudulent donations to the Obama campaign.

Today I tried the same fake donations while filming. The two times I tried this time, the transactions were declined. I called in later today to check on the declined transactions and AMEX told me they were actually approved. Go figure?

So now I am somewhat perplexed. I placed two donations, one for $30 and one for $5, and both were declined according to the Obama donation website but my credit card company shows it was approved.

Again I used, John McCain, Washington DC etc... for the donation info. The transaction was processed by Obama Exploratory, retail, Middle East Rest.

I will check tomorrow to see if these charges actually hit my card.

Please pass this information to others so they know how Obama is running his donation campaign.

For anyone concerned don't worry I am disputing all the charges!

Obama fraud - My experience

The Obama campaign is teaming with allegations of fraud on all fronts. We all know about the voter fraud spurred on by the community organizing group ACORN.

What about donation fraud? Since Obama went back on his word not to take public financing, as McCain did, he has raised huge amounts of money. How does a campaign raise $150+ million dollars in one month?

I decided to see for myself if I could illegally donate to the Obama campaign. I made a donation of $50 on the Obama website. Jeeeez Jag what are you doing you ask? Well I don't think $50 is really going to matter especially since I've disputed the charge.

When I made the donation I put in the following information:

Name: John McCain
Address: 1400 Penn Ave
City: Washington DC, 20001
Occupation: President
Employer: US Govt

The only correct information was my credit card number and expiration date. I did not have to put in the 4 digit security code.

And there's more...

I called American Express to see if the donation actually went through. I was told yes the card was approved by:

Obama Exploratory
Chicago Ill
category: retail
Business type: Middle Eastern Rest

Yes. the above is true. I called three times to confirm and received the same information all three times.

A day later the process was complete and my credit card was hit with the charge from:

Obama for America
dba: Obama for America-Online
type: political org

Now we all have purchased items on the Internet using a credit card and appreciate the many fraud features sites require such as, security code, billing address etc...
Obviously the Obama camp has turned all of these features off.

In the end you ask why does this matter? Well the maximum amount an individual can donate to a campaign is $2,300. Using anonymous credit card and gift card transactions someone can donate as much as they like from anywhere in the world.

Wouldn't you think a presidential candidate would have honor in their campaign? I'm actually wondering if anyone cares.

On a final note I disputed the charges with American Express and they are gathering the information on the processor of the transaction.

People, Honor and Character do count for something.

Sen. Barack Obama reportedly has booked half hour prime time slots on CBS,NBC, and MSNBC just days before the election.

The fact Obama went back on his word with Clinton and McCain to accept public financing he has amassed a huge amount in campaign contributions. Prime time TV slots are certainly not cheap but Sen Obama does have money to 'play with'.

I do wonder. Did the networks involved coax him into such a thing because of already low ratings? MSNBC really doesn't count given t he fact only 5-6 people watch the channel anyway.

Barack however could be doing himself a disservice. I'm not too sure Knight Rider fans will appreciate missing a week of Kit the talking car. The show probably appeals to many liberals who really enjoy a few brewskies and look forward to the talking car each week. The car does still talk right?

As far as CBS, "The new adventures of Old Christine", I'm not even sure what that means. As you can tell I don't watch much 'prime time' TV.

So will a stunt like this carry much weight? Probably not. If you haven't made up your mind by then, you are probably not going to vote anyway.

In other news I did hear the Joe Biden was going to get a 30 minute slot on the Comedy Channel which should do really well.

I debated whether to write a post about an incident that occurred after attending the Gov. Sarah Palin rally in Pensacola a few weeks ago. But it happened and happened to me and my family so why not, right?

As we were leaving the rally we had to detour through downtown Pensacola and drove through what seemed to be an Obama neighborhood, or maybe just a bunch of people who liked yard signs with his name. Anyway, we had to stop so Gov Palin's motorcade could go by on there way to the airport.

While waiting, a family sitting on their porch, noticed we were McCain - Palin supporters. After Gov Palin's motorcade passed someone on the porch yelled as us, "Hey ya'll are going to be sorry when Obama becomes President."

The more I thought about that statement I wondered, "Is that how Obama supporters view this election?". I mean McCain and McCain supporters believe that McCain's policy will help everyone. It's not an us or them mentality, it should be a country united.

Hopefully this is not the attitude of other Obama supporters and just a limited case.

Or... Maybe I just took the whole thing the wrong way because if you really think about it, what they said was true, "Ya'll (who everyone?) are going to be sorry when Obama becomes President."

it was like a father scolding their kid.

Sen Barack Obama has run on this notion that McCain is President Bush and repeats the phrase "failed Bush administration" in his sleep probably.

But in two quick sentences McCain stopped that mantra right in it's tracks. I mean what else could Obama say? Maybe "Yes sir".

I'm not sure but I don't think the failed Bush administration issue came up again.

I really expected McCain to say next "Now go to your room!".

Obama - a famous author too?

Ever sit down and read through your kids textbooks? To tell you the truth I really haven't. We just assume they are written in an unbiased and educational fashion.

Well in Wisconsin some people might think a little differently.

Not only have we seen the trail of Sen. Barack Obama's to power via Chicago politics, shady meetings with (snicker) "former terrorists", and the (ahem) community organizing group ACORN, his majesty has now made it into our kids textbooks.

The Real Debate Wisconsin reported that the 2008 edition of the 8th grade literature book published by McDougal Littell Literature contained some 15 pages about Barack Obama. On page 847 there's actually a picture of Obama at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

The RDW also states, that oddly enough there is nothing about President Bush, Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. John McCain.

I looked up the other authors included in the book; Mark Twain, Ray Bradbury, Emily Dickinson, William Shakespeare to name a few, and just didn't realize Obama was such a renowned author...amazing.

When you look up campaign contributions it seems Mr. McDougal is a big supporter of Obama.

Joe - he's more than just a plumber

Can you relate to Joe the plumber? One night after the last debate between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, Joe the plumber has become a popular guy.

There's another side to Joe, however. He's the iconic middle class 'guy' or person working the American Dream. He works hard, lives in a regular neighborhood, looks like you and I, and is looking to buy his own business.

He's a wake up call to all of us. He's middle class America. I say that over and over to get my point across.

This is who Sen. Obama is trying to appeal to and if you saw the video (below) Sen. Obama crashed and burned on his answer to Joe's question. He told Joe, who works hard and wants his own business, that he wants for everyone below Joe to share Joe's success and in order to do that Joe must give up part of what he's earned.

This is what redistribution of wealth is people. It's not taking from the super rich or big business, it's taking from those like Joe.

If the unthinkable happens and Sen. Obama is (gulp) President, I think you will see a lot of small businesses and wealthy incomes go to $249,999.

Who really want 55% of their personal income taxed as it can under the Obama tax plan. Plus when you kick the bucket possibly giving 65% (estate tax) of what you have back to the government. Sorry Joe the plumber, stick to contracting.

Sen. Obama also wants to increase capital gains taxes. Hmmmm hello people. The market is down over 30% in the past year. There's not going to be any capital gains, in fact, the losses will carry over each year until used. So no revenue there either.

Most of the people who are making over $250,000 probably did it because they were smart. So my guess is they will certainly find every means (legally of course) to not increase their tax liability.

Saying we will increase taxes on the top 95% is a nice talking point to gain votes, I'm not real sure though how much more revenue it would actually bring in to cover Obama's spending increase

On a good note at least Sen Biden did say 5% of the people would be Patriotic!

Here's an update on a joke that went around on the net a few months ago during the primaries.

Here's the original joke (in my own words)

McCain, Obama, and Hillary were all walking down the street.
They came upon a homeless man sitting against a wall.

McCain walked up to the man and said "Here's a $100 my friend. Walk down to the corner to one of my offices and they will take care of you". A noble deed.

The group continued on and came upon another homeless man.

Not to be outdone Hillary walked up to the man and said the same thing. She gave the man $100 but took out 30% in overhead and admin fees and sent the man to her office... again another noble deed.

The group continued on further and again come upon another homeless man.

Obama, in his infinite nobility, walked up to the man, gave him a hug and said, "Don't worry my brother... change is coming".

But wait there's more!

In an amazing twist, Obama walked up to the final homeless man and said, "Don't worry my brother, change is coming!" and then proceeded to pull out 75 voter registration cards for the man to fill out.

Former Terrorists? - Please explain

The term "former terrorist" is getting thrown around a lot these days. Much of it has to do with the Barack Obama and William "Bill" Ayers connection.

I wonder though; how do you go from being a terrorist to a former terrorist? Is there an application you fill out? Are you forgiven after so many years?

I always thought, "once a terrorist always a terrorist" but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe given the certain political "situation" it's the politically correct thing to say. We certainly wouldn't want to offend anyone who's bombed the Capital, Pentagon, and killed policemen.

If anyone knows the process for becoming a former terrorist please comment!

About this time of year I start commenting on all the new or old toys coming out, after all Christmas is just around the corner! It's amazing at all the wonderful gifts we can give our kids.

Today I will feature the Indiana Jones Whip. Actually it's the Indiana Jones electronic sound FX whip. Take note it's for ages 6 and up.

What the crap? If I'm going to give my 6 year old kid a whip it's gonna be the real, thing not some flimsy electronic toy that's going to break after whacking the neighbors dog or better yet the neighborhood kids.

After my 6 year old and I watched the trilogy, you know, hearts getting ripped out, faces melting etc... the first thing he said was "I want one of those damn whips Indy was using".

So parents don't skimp on your youngster for an imitation whip that pretends to snap the bad guys into submission, give them the real deal and don't forget to throw in a revolver as well.

ACORN solution - Get your own ASS out and register

This whole ACORN voter registration fraud is pretty easy to stop. Just disqualify all registrations from ACORN or any other voter registration group for that matter.

Oh but you say, Sir Jager, "they [ACORN] are out for social justice or people who can't register otherwise," B.u.l.l.s.h.*.t.o.r.a.m.a!

A group like ACORN is out to wreak havoc on the very system that our country is based. What company hires identity theft felons to go out and solicit voter registration. And yes this is solicitation which is not illegal but sure is frowned on in most places. Then they complain about, "We're do everything we can to stop registration fraud." Can you say "laaaoooossseerrr" [Ace Ventura].

So how will ALL these disenfranchised people get registered to vote? Hey, here's a thought - they need to get off their ass and go register! That's what I did.

So here's the deal people:

1. If you are too lazy to get YOURSELF registered, then you probably shouldn't be voting. I mean you've only had 3 years 11 months to do this.
2. If you physically cannot get out to register, then I am sure your caretaker or whoever feeds you can certainly get you registered.
Simple

Hey ACORN have you thought about this. If the people you are running around trying to get registered are too lazy to register anyway and you have to do it for them, do you really think they are capable of getting themselves to the polls to vote?

Bottom line:
Disqualify all groups like ACORN voter registrations.
If you want to vote, get off your ass and go register.

The definition of Acorn in the dictionary is "a nut"

Bailout - The blame game

The rescue/bailout plan outcome is still yet to be seen but the finger pointing is out of control.

The fact someone can blame our economic crisis on the current administration (Bush I assume) shows how uninformed that person may be. I will be the first to say Republicans have to own up to some of the mistakes, but when you look at the underlying problem, Democrats have a lit match in their hand.

I've already discussed the bailout and will not go into whether it's good or bad. The fact of the matter is our current economic meltdown stems from the breakdown in the lending or mortgage industry. The bottom layer of that industry is Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

The meltdown of Fannie and Freddie, which has led to government intervention of the companies, began with risky mortgages the companies were buying. Under Democratic leadership the companies were urged to provide more affordable housing opportunities to lower income families. Fannie and Freddie were more than willing to do this as it would increase their gains but also led to the unregulated buying of risky housing loans.

Several times the Bush administration and even John McCain have expressed concern about the lack of regulation of the two companies. McCain even proposed a bill to increase regulation but was voted down by the Democrats.

It has also been brought to light several Democratic Senators who have received political contributions from Fannie and Freddie, number 1 being Sen. Chris Dodd who is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and number 2 is Barack Obama. Remember Obama has only been in the senate for four years and has received more than long time Senators like John Kerry.

I am posting this not knowing the final outcome of the "rescue plan" or "bailout bill" as it was initially called. Will it finally pass? Probably, but that is not what this article is about.

This article is about "Why the Wall Street Bailout Bill" failed, as my title states. As we know the House of Representatives did not pass the first draft of the bill. The controversy of John McCain coming back to Washington or the Democrats trying to embarrasses McCain really is neither here nor there of why it failed the first time. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has even been criticized by bringing the thing to vote when there was no confirmation of enough votes. Still doesn't matter.

No, I it goes back to basic marketing. The bill was dubbed the "Wall Street Bailout Bill". How it got this name I don't know nor care but the American people heard this and went ballistic.

When mainstreet America hears Washington is going to "bailout" Wall Street to the tune of $700 billion, hell yeah they are going to raise cane. Yes, it's more complicated than that, but the average guy on the street remembers; "$700 billion","Wall Street","bailout".

Now of course, the bill has a much lighter tone, "rescue plan", and is a little better received but I still think much of mainstreet is going to feel like this bill was shoved down their throat.

So to the guys in Washington. Before you try to sell something to the American people do a little bit of marketing beforehand. Even if you didn't come up with the term "Bailout Wall Street" make sure you have a user-friendly name and marketing plan before going public.

Geeeez the "Wall Street Bail Out Plan". Why not call it "stick the American people for $2300 plan" or "Hell, let your kids pay for it plan" or better yet "Let's help the crooks on Wall Street plan".

A cheap airline in China made the passengers chip in and help. The plane apparently landed safely but quit before it could taxi to the gate. As reported, the staff, could not push the plane off the runway and asked the passengers to help.

Well I'm not sure what a cheap ticket in China costs (2 chickens?) but you get what you pay for people! Hell they probably went into the terminal and got on their water buffalo and drove home. jussssst kiddding... for all my China friends.

Anyway, I think pushing wouldn't really bother considering the plane a AT LEAST quit running while on the ground. It might be a bit tough to push when in the air.

Rocket Wings Hah! I had a Flexy-Racer people

Yves Rossy, a Swiss daredevil, used a pair of homemade rocket wings to propel himself across the English Channel.

The "Rocket Man" jumped out of a perfectly good plane with rockets strapped to his back.

He then ignited the rockets and blasted his way to England. Once over the white cliffs of Dover he popped his parachute and floated to the ground.

I do admire the guy for his courage BUT did his mom give him a flexy-racer when he was a kid?

Yes, I was the proud owner of a flexy-racer, a sled with wheels or "wheeled coaster". In doing some research to see if there was such a thing, I began to wonder if my mom just took our old classic snow sled (not really used since we lived in Alabama), and stuck some wheels on it. I did, however, find it was an actual product.

Here's how the flexy-racer worked. You pretty much found a big hill, laid down, and off you went. To brake you had to turn the 'steering device' downward where a piece of metal rubbed the wheels. Speaking of steering... can you really imagine barrelling down a hill and trying to turn this thing? These were the days when helmets were "only" for motorcycles. I do have the scars that remind me of the flexy-racer days.

So...Rocket Man, nice try. When you really want to impress me, grab a flexy-racer and head to the nearest hill.

So here's a quote from Obama a few weeks ago -

"Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years..."

Barack Obama was comparing his executive experience to that of Gov. Sarah Palin.

So let's analyze what he says.

First and I do commend Obama on this, he addresses Sarah Palin as Gov Palin. But there's a bit of a hint there to some much much bigger. She's now a governor and they make executive decisions! By the way Alaska has over 24,000 employees and somewhere around a $10 billion budget.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Obama running against John McCain? Shouldn't you compare your resume with the person you are running against? Isn't John McCain running a campaign too? Actually I think he's run quite a few. Man that should give him a lot of Obama "executive experience".

The last part of the quote refers to managing large systems over the past few years. What the hell. How long has he been running for president?

Julian Beever has been creating these great illusions on sidewalks for many years. Of course, because they are chalk they fade away with foot traffic and weather but for a moment in time his illusions amaze people.

Can poor people be patriotic?

On an ABC news interview Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden said it was time for the rich to be patriotic.

This came after a question asking Biden if people making over $250,000 would pay more taxes. Biden's responded, "You got it, it's time to be patriotic". He continues, "[It's] Time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help America out of the rut".

So let me get this straight. It's up to the rich to bail out the US by paying more taxes. In turn this makes the rich patriotic. So by increasing taxes, the Obama administration is making rich people more patriotic. Sheer genius!

But wait, where does this leave the middle class and poor people? Do they have any means of becoming patriotic or are they left to be dug "out of the rut"? This also leaves us to believe the Obama administration assumes the middle class and poor feel that taking money from the rich is their only way out. I would think the Obama-Biden campaign would give the American people a little more credit than that, but hey, I've never been a community organizer so who am I to say.

FYI - How Gov. Palin's email was hacked

From my previous post you may think I do not believe Gov. Palin's email was hacked. This is not the case. The point I was making was that people, mostly lefties, were not so concerned about the email getting hacked as the content of the emails, obviously looking for a silver bullet to put her down.

I agree that politician's should probably keep business email in house but do not think you should get thrown in the slammer because you use yahoo or gmail to email a college.

I wonder what would happen if Obama's yahoo account was hacked? We would probably get a different story, but you already knew that.

Yahoo might reconsider how they have password recovery for their accounts if the following is true. Attached is a link to PC magazines version of how Gov. Palin's email was hacked using 4Chan's random /b/ board.

So I heard today Gov. Palin's yahoo email account was hacked or was it?

Let's say someone was so bold as to crack her yahoo email account. Some of the left interviews I've heard so far do not seem to have a problem with it, their main concern is, "what is in those emails?"

It's OK to break the law and hack into someone's private email account, but you can't wiretap a terrorist? See where I'm coming from people.

I just listened to an interview with an attorney who was hardly concerned about the hacking and more concerned about the contents of the email. Did Gov Sarah Palin use a yahoo account for government business? Did she use it to hide something? In my opinion you can't even go that far because the material in question was gathered illegally!

Now heres the kicker.

Are the Images real or Fakes?
How do you know the images are real screenshots? Maybe Gawker, WikiLeaks, or the Anonymous faked the images or part of the images. I can easily take a screenshot of a yahoo account and throw it into Photoshop and do what I like. Haven't thought of that have you?

Gawker.com was so eager to get the story online they didn't even address Gov. Palin properly or capitalize the word Internet.

Unfortunately I think all the hype or "hope" for the Democrats will be short lived. On reason the information was obtained illegally and the Secret Service / FBI are involved. Just like you can't hide "secrets" in your email, it's pretty tough to hide your identity online when you are hacking accounts.

btw - I do have some knowledge on this subject as I once owned an ISP.

Google Chrome Search and Spell

Ok - it's been about a week and I've had some time to use Google's Chrome browser and still find it a nice browser. I'll touch on two nice features real quick I've come across thet have been helpful for my needs.

The first, and this is great for me, is an auto spell check or sort of. I haven't quiet figured this one out because some sites will spell check and others will not. I assume it's a bug that will get resolved. But when it does work it was great. If I misspell a word it automatically underlines the word and I can right click for spell suggestions. This seems to be pretty much the same as Google's spellchecker for the "other" browser. I like it because, when it works it takes care of spell checking as you type. By the was the spell check is not working now so I'll blame Google for any misspellings.

The second feature I came upon by trial and error. Sometimes I'll search a web document itself using the "find" feature which is usually the ctrl+f shortcut. Given the fact Chrome is pretty scaled down there is no toolbar for the "find" feature therefore leading me to try the ctrl+f and voila, a small drop down box pops down at the top right of the browser. No big deal right? Well this is what I expected so I typed in my search and all instances on the page were highlighted. The other nice feature was that on the scroll bar all areas where the word occurred were also highlighted, nice. Since I was looking at a lengthy database web document the scroll highlights allowed me to scroll quickly to each instance of my search. It's hard to explain so just try it!

Chrome still has some issues but it's still only a few days old. I will keep plugging away and what doesn't work in Chrome I will simply pull up my old IE clunker and go back to the good ole days!

Google Chrome hits the streets or uh Web

Google has entered a new battle - the browser wars. While Microsoft currently dominates the market with Firefax and Safari hanging second and third, Google has subtly created a "new view" of the web. On the surface it may look similar to other browsers but under the hood it's running on a new engine.

Having some programming skills I can appreciate this new approach. Ever since I opened Mozilla way back when, sometime in the early 90s, each new browser or version of a browser has built upon previous versions. This has led to some "in the box" thinking and one way thinking of how a browser should work. It has also led to some hefty browsers.

Users over the years though have changed their browsing habits. In the early days having one browser open was normal, but now having several browser windows open and ultimately the "tabs" feature is common. Email, blogs and blog editing, social websites like facebook, are all open at one time. This is great. The problem with browsers like Internet Explorer is they all occupy the same memory space, or home and when one goes bad everything goes bad - crashes.

Google has taken a new approach in that each tab uses a new memory space or different home. When one tab or site causes a problem it doesn't effect the other tabs - or neighbors. This is really nice so your email or blog post doesn't crash because another site sitting in another tab goes haywire.

Another nice feature is the one address bar. It acts like a URL bar as well as your search box. It also fills in sites below the box for faster typing. For example if I type in weather, weather.com shows up below the box so I can click directly on the url rather than go through the Google search process.

I am giving all this praise after one day of use. So I'll put it through the rounds and do a follow up in a week or so. In the meantime drop by Google and download Chrome and give it a spin. Another nice feature is it's very light in that it's a small download and installs quickly.

Mother Ship Unveiled... For some reason I'll wait til version 20

You know, when a new version of Windows comes out, I'm not the first guy in line to buy it. Like most people I will wait for a few upgrades to be released before I dish out more bucks to those guys at Microsoft. Of course the reason is most new operating system releases are buggy and it takes some time to get the kinks out.

I think this is probably what I'll do on Richard Branson's new Mother Ship unveiled for his business venture named Virgin Galactic. Also I don't really have $200k to lay down for a few minutes in space.

Commercial space travel is somewhere in our future but I don't plan to be one of the first ones sitting on a rocket hanging from an airplane waiting to be blasted into space. I wonder if Richard has booked his ticket?

Does Global Warming cause ED?

Now there's a "real" reason to fight global warming. I have been been so reluctant to believe the global warming theory but the fact it could cause more kidney stones is just not worth the risk. I know rainforest's, millions of species, ice caps, and possibly the human race could be in jeopardy but more kidney stones is the tipping point for me. This article is a huge breakthrough in scientific research.

The more I've thought about this maybe it's also the cause for men's hair loss and the increasing ED (erectile dysfunction) problem. If that's the case then that leads to more spam in my inbox and using unnecessary bandwidth.

When you put two and two together, maybe it's a conspiracy theory. What if v.i.a.g.r.a or Roga1ne are actually major perpetrators of global warming to further their cause? I can't believe no one has ever figured this out!

Crap... Telemarketers

I thought telemarketing went away, or was against the law or something. But low and behold I am sitting here writing an "important" blog entry (The Oprah book blah blah) and my phone rings.

Well really it's not even my home phone. It's a place, or OK a condo, I rent to people and I'm staying here this week. No I'm not in trouble.

The telemarketer starts out "Hey this is Scott and do I..blah blah blah". This guy was trying to sell me satellite TV which I'm sure the condo association would go for. Of course after a few seconds I hung up and got about my business.

As I sat back down I hadn't saved that important Oprah blog entry and I've had them magically disappear sometimes. Luckily it was still there but if the worst had happened man I don't know what I would have done. Maybe just got a shot of Jager and moved on.

Giant Disclaimer here: I do not watch Oprah nor sway either way on her views. But...

I was reading the book "A New Earth - Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" by Eckhart Tolle and received an email (FW: watch this...stuff) about the book. Normally those type emails go straight to the trash bin and the sender to Internet Hell, but in this case I read it because it had something about the book.

The video was something about Oprah getting in to it on her show about Christianity, believing in God and so forth. Second Disclaimer: I am a Christian so don't start jumping my case - yet.

Anyway, IMHO and that's what counts here, the book is not about believing in one specific faith. You can apply it to any religion or way of life. The fact he talks about Christianity, Islam, Bhuddism and so forth doesn't really try to "covert" you one way or another.

The book is really just a view on life. I am not saying that I agree with everything but it certainly is not denouncing or promoting any one religion.

Would Leonardo Da Vinci use Photoshop?

Classic painting, art etc... is great. One thing that makes it great is not only the quality of work, but the fact they had to make their own materials. Michael Angelo didn't run down to Michael's and buy a block of stone (do they sell that?) and whack out a naked guy in his backyard.

While I loved my art history classes and the old school craft, I hate when people say, "Well Leonardo didn't do it that way" or "Beethoven didn't write that way".

Fact is, if Leonardo Da Vinci were alive today he would probably be a beta tester for Adobe if not writing the code himself! Beethoven would have a freakin kick ass Pro Tools rig, the latest version of Reason and talking smack with Peter Gabriel.

Come on people. These guys were ahead of their time back in the day so just imagine what they could do with the tools we have today.

The Ken Burns Effect

Have you ever watched a documentary that used stills (photos) with music for drama? Maybe the stills faded into (crossfade) one another, or slowly panned across the screen. Well this is known as the Ken Burns effect.

It is called that because the famous documentary filmmaker Ken Burns uses the effect, I hate to say effect, in many of his films. His most recent film was entitled "The War", a seven part documentary that aired on PBS.

As I got into film making I used a lot of my photos in my work. At the time I didn't realize I was using the Ken Burns effect.

For photographers though it opens up new ways to express your photographic creativity. With inexpensive video editing tools you can take your images to a new level. You will even begin to shoot differently.

To show off your work you can burn them to DVDs for playing on large screen TVs or use YouTube or Flickr's new video function to display your work.

Keep the old camera clicking. There's nothing like a moment captured in time. But look for new ways to display those moments.

In some of my upcoming posts I will offer tutorials on how to do the Ken Burns effect and tools you can use.

Flickr has made the leap to video...sort of. As I write this I am renderin a short sneek-peek of a documentary I am working on to upload to Flickr.

The first thing to note is that Flickr is not becoming a YouTube. You can only upload 90 seconds of video. While YouTube, MetaCafe, etc... users may find this useless for video I think it will be useful in the photography world.

Why? Because a lot of my documentaries have photos with music. This can take photographers into a new realm of people "seeing" their images. The old "Ken Burns" effect could possibly take over Flickr. Hmmm maybe I should start a Ken Burns group real quick...

Anyway if photographers grasp this concept I think they can take their photos to a new level.

In Sepetember of 2007 I caught Dengue fever in Jamaica shooting some humanitarian documentary footage in eastern Jamaica. I did not get 'sick' til I got home and ran high fevers and severe body aches.

It took me researching the CDC website to find out what I had. After I got home the CDC issued an alert about Dengue fever in Jamaica 'after' I was there. Apparently the outbreak occurred due to the water and mosquito problems after Hurricane Dean.

Anyway, I am still slowly recovering from Dengue. It can take many months to fully get over the disease.

Even though it is cruel, cockfighting is popular in the Philippines. Large arenas with cock fighting rings host matches daily with prizes and gambling. Of course the prize for the rooster is that it lives.

Large razor like blades or gaffs are placed on the roosters leg during the fight. Owners make the rooster taunt each other before the fight to get them mad. Fights last anywhere form 20 seconds to several minutes.

In most Filipino homes you will find a cock. They are treated almost as good as humans. They are conditioned and given vitamins.

Cockfighting is a Philippine national sport.

Do not start flaming me for using MySpace. Yes I have a Facebook account too but I also find MySpace useful as will, juvenile at times, but I have my reasons for using it.

Now...

Why don't people get more creative with MySpace profiles than just "look at me mugshots"? That's great but I the profile can be somewhat a creative outlet and show more personality. I have seen a few but for the most part profiles are just mugshots.

I try to be a little creative when updating old Jager. The image here is a profile I created and of course put the Rocky theme on my page for added effect.

This image is getting a lot of activity on Flickr. Most of it is because it shows up under "extreme weather" #1 on yahoo images. It's not particularly my favorite but it is dramatic and I can see why people like it.

How it was taken
There is no magic here. Just find a storm and open the shutter for 20-30 seconds. The less the better so that noise doesn't build up if you shoot digital. Also shoot a few shots and adjust your F stop for the surrounding lightning. I wanted the house and euipment to show up in image as well so I adjusted F stop and maybe some shutter to guesstimate on exposure.

The lightning itself though pretty much takes the picture. Think of it as a big flash.

Also you will need a tripod of course. In some cases I've used bench tops, rails etc... when one was not available.

I also check direction of storm/s before going out so I can plan the shot and know where the storm is headed.

Standing While Working

I am embarking on a new venture of standing while working. Now this isn't a big deal if you are a airline stewardess, football referee, etc... but if most of your work is done at a computer then this may be different.

I will regress in that I try not to make all my work at the computer. But for the times I have to work on the computer I am going to try standing.

After doing a little research it seems many people are doing this. It makes sense. It seems like it would be healthier rather than all slouched down in a cushy chair. They key is to get everything setup properly.

Getting your monitor and keyboard set the right height is a must. I would think and have read if they are not it could lead to problems. Also a stool or high chair for occasional sitting.

I am going to give it a shot. I may post tomorrow that I threw in the towel and back to my cushy chair. For now my cat has taken over my chair and I am standing here conducting the web.

We've been caught 'Squirrels detained'!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the squirrels that were recently captured by Iran. The work they were performing was some of the most dangerous and courageous in the history of our country.

Hopefully we can arrange a peaceful swap and have them released. All small rodents in the country are at threat level 'red' and are ceasing operations.

Many countries have condemned the arrest of the squirrels and demand them released. Iran's head of rodent counter-espionage response was "Your nuts".

The Mobile Web - Part I

The mobile web. The term sounds cool but what exactly is it?

Really it could be different things to different people. I'll throw out what I use it for.

First my tool - A T-Mobile MDA phone. It's a PDA style phone with a hidden keyboard. It also has a stylus and touchscreen. The phone is nice and runs on Windows Mobile platform. My main complaints are boot up time and not having a manual keypad. The keypad really can't be changed and the boot up problem is solved by leaving the phone on.

I've had several people tell me "I hate that phone." I can see that. It's almost a love or hate item. The more I use it the more I like it.

Email-
First I use it to check email. The phone will go out and grab the first bits of your email so you can check your email from anywhere. This is nice and saves time in finding a computer to check email and lets you get back quickly to urgent messages.

Text Messaging
I also use text messaging. At first this seemed like a teeny-bopper application. But text messaging has it's place. Think about it. If you call someone to ask a quick question the call usually turns into various chit-chat. A quick text message can get you an answer without all the baggage. Also out of the country I've used it to stay in touch where it was to costly to call.

Picture Messaging
This also has a teen fell to it but I try to use it in a more "mature" manner. Some may disagree. I can update one of my blogs with an image and text. I've had to purchase something and sent an image to make sure I was getting the right thing. You can also use them for fun such as keeping friends and family updated with a quick picture.

Laptops - the smaller the better

Laptops are nice and for some a necessity. They actually have enough power these days to do some actual work.

One thing gets me though. Why would anyone buy a big laptop? If I have a laptop I want it to be light and portable. I do not want to tote a semi-desktop computer around. Yea, I know you are a power user and you need that big screen.

I use Photoshop daily, create videos, and do my Internet junk on a small Dell laptop. That's not to say it doesn't have some power. I threw 2 gigs of RAM in it and the processor is decent. For extra storage I'll use the USB powered Western Digital Passport USB drives.

Yes those are all extra little gadgets to tote but I would have them no matter the size of the laptop. I like backing up my stuff to a separate drive.

Get a big screen and cool looking desktop for home but for travel go light. Correctly configured the small ones are less money and have enough horsepower to do just about anything you need.
Plus you'll spare your back.
